Steven Lowenthal is the CEO of SPECTRUM Commercial Services Company. Mr. Lowenthal and his former partner, Brian Van Nevel, purchased SPECTRUM from U.S. Bancorp in March of 2001.
As CEO of SPECTRUM, Steve has responsibility for strategic planning and management of SPECTRUM’s growth and success. Day to day, Steve is responsible for operations and administration, asset-based loan management as well as corporate finance.
Steve joined SPECTRUM in 1996 and is its longest serving team member. He developed its lending philosophies as well as the bulk of its monitoring systems and procedures. He has successfully underwritten hundreds of loans and financing relationships helping SPECTRUM’s many customers prosper. He is the originator of SPECTRUM’s customer focused approach to lending.
Steve has been active in the asset-based, factoring and purchase order financing arenas since 1986 and maintains an excellent record in the recovery of troubled loans. Prior to SPECTRUM, Steve worked as a senior account executive at US Bank’s asset based lending division. Previously, Steve also served as an account executive for a provider of working capital through factoring and purchase order financing programs. When Steve was the portfolio manager at SIMCOR Business Credit, the owner of SIMCOR lost access to capital and Steve successfully wound down the entire portfolio, finding a home for each and every borrower.
Steve received his undergraduate degree (BSB in Business) from the University of Minnesota and his law degree from the William Mitchell College of Law (graduating in the top 10 students of his class) and has completed portions of his Masters of Business Administration. Steve was admitted to the Bar of the State of Minnesota. He is a member of the Commercial Financial Association and the Turnaround Management Association.
Anthony Gizinski is President of SPECTRUM and his duties include shared responsibility for strategic planning and management of SPECTRUM. Day to day responsibilities include oversight of SPECTRUM's sales force and various lending programs as well as the general operations of the company.
Anthony began his career with Fidelity Bank in 1995, rising to VP of commercial lending and group manager, where he worked until joining SPECTRUM in 2013. At Fidelity Bank Anthony managed a successful team of commercial lenders and analysts and also developed and maintained a substantial loan portfolio. Anthony enjoys working with privately owned companies in a variety of industries in all stages of their development.
Academically, Anthony earned both undergrad and graduate degrees from the University of Minnesota including a BS and MBA, both in finance, along with a diploma from the ABA National Stonier Graduate School of Banking. Anthony remains active in the Carlson School Mentorship Program and has also been a guest lecturer at the St. Thomas Law School, the Opus School of Business, and the Carlson School of Management.
Anthony has been actively involved with the following professional organizations: Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), First Tuesday, The Carlson School Mentorship Program, The Risk Management Association (RMA), Entrepreneur's Organization (EO) and the Secured Finance Network (SFN).
Mark Schwieters joined SPECTRUM as Senior Vice President and Sales Manager in 2013. His focus is on leading SPECTRUM’s business development efforts, coordinating credit approval of new customers and opening new sales offices. Mark heads a team consisting of 3 business development officers that are located throughout the Midwest and Great Lakes regions.
Mark has over twenty-five years of asset based lending experience, in capacities ranging from collateral audit, portfolio management and new business development. During his career, he has worked with closely held companies in manufacturing, wholesale distribution and various service industries throughout the upper Midwest.
Mark places significant value on relationships with referral sources including bankers, accountants, attorneys, and turnaround practitioners.
Mark received a B.S. in Accounting from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN. He is a past President of the Minnesota chapter of the Turnaround Management Association and he also belongs to the MN chapter of the Secured Finance Network.
John Klehm joined SPECTRUM Commercial Services Company as First Vice President of their Detroit office in June 2010. Based in Michigan, John spends most of his time in Metro-Detroit and West Michigan, while also working with companies in Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania. Mr. Klehm works closely with a variety of business professionals, including restructuring advisors, consultants, investment bankers, attorneys, CPAs and commercial bankers to help provide them with financing solutions for their current and prospective clients.
After graduating with a BS degree in Finance from Central Michigan University, John joined Manufacturer’s Bank (now Comerica) in their commercial credit training program. Throughout his career he has worked as a lender in the commercial real estate, middle-market commercial and asset-based lending arenas. John likes to say he is a "closet entrepreneur" who enjoys working with dynamic businesses to understand their unique business models and how the financial resources of SPECTRUM can be applied to help them reach their goals.
John earned an MBA in Finance from Wayne State University and is active in the Turnaround Management Association, including six years as a Board Member and Chair of the Newsletter Committee.
Nick Schweim joined SPECTRUM Commercial Services Company in 2018 as a Vice President / Business Development Executive in the Minneapolis office. Nick spends the majority of his time working closely with a variety of business professionals; including commercial bankers, restructuring advisors, CPA’s, consultants, investment bankers and attorneys to provide financing solutions to their current and prospective clients. For those companies needing alternative financing, Nick utilizes SPECTRUM’s various loan programs to arrange a tailor-made financing solution for early-stage and rapid growth entities, as well as for M&A opportunities and for companies that are currently unable to obtain traditional bank financing.
Prior to joining SPECTRUM, Nick had over 18 years of combined experience in direct lending, underwriting, debt placement and advisory services while working at community banks, a large corporate bank and an investment banking firm. During his career, Nick has assisted commercial clients with their business financial needs and has worked with a variety of companies from closely-held businesses to public companies across a variety of industries including: manufacturing, distribution, business services, tech, Ag, oil & gas, med-tech and others.
Nick graduated with a B.S. degree in Finance from Minnesota State University, Mankato. He is currently involved in Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), Secured Finance Network (SFN), Turnaround Management Association (TMA), and Risk Management Association (RMA).
Jeff Colquette joined SPECTRUM in 1999, starting in the factoring and accounts receivable finance division, rising to manager in 2001. Jeff’s contributions were instrumental to the development of the various factoring due diligence and day to day operating procedures which SPECTRUM continues to utilize.
In October 2006, Mr. Colquette transitioned to an underwriting support and sales and marketing role. Jeff assists with credit analysis and documentation of many of SPECTRUM’s asset-based and accounts receivable financing clients as well as working with community bankers throughout Minnesota and loan brokers nationwide.
Jeff received his BS degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in Marketing. After graduation, Mr. Colquette worked with Ford Motor Credit Company. During his 9 year tenure with Ford Motor Credit, Jeff worked as a collections representative, marketing representative, and as a credit analyst for retail/commercial installment contracts and wholesale auto floor plans.
